White Christmas

No doubt about it.  We'll be having a White Christmas here.

How about you?

December 21, 2010

My friend Michelle has informed me that I'm expected to WRAP all the gifts I've purchased!

Since then, I've been searching for a little inspiration.

Something quick, easy, and pretty.

Because let's face it, gift wrapping rates very low on my fun meter!

Normally this would be my plan of attack when faced with a mountain of gifts to be wrapped.

Step one:
Grumble my way to the store. Grudgingly pick out a few rolls of paper that aren't a shock to the eyes.
Proceed to checkout lane only to discover I forgot to pick up tape!
Throw a hissy fit as I march my grumpy butt to the tape aisle.

Step two:
 Hastily wrap each gift,
holding the paper on with two, maybe three pieces of tape.
You know, just enough to make sure it stays on until the kids rip it to shreds.

Step three:
Slap on one of those bows from a bag.

And CLEAR!
I'm done.

Not very festive of me - I know.

Hence the search for a little inspiration.

I think I've found it!
(Better House and Garden)

Cute.  Simple.  Pretty.

I think even I can handle this!

To be honest, I'm sure a few will be wrapped using my normal method.

How about you.

Are you still digging your way out from under a mountain of gifts to wrap?

until tomorrow,
Robin

Quick and Easy Christmas Decorating: part two

I have a few more quick and easy decorating projects to show you today.

For the first project,
I simply wrapped some pretty ribbon around a few candles.
Gathered them together on a white platter.
Surrounded them with silver bead garland.
Added a few silver stars . . .
and I'm Done!

In my kitchen window,
I added my favorite lantern to a enamelware washtub,
added some faux pine branches,
a few glittered branches,
and two ornaments.

In the living room I like to add a little sparkle to my large set of windows.
I took a basic pine wreath,
added some bead garland,
and hung it from my curtain rod with a strip of muslin.

Next I draped some silvery bead garland over the curtain rod,
and hung some silver bells from the dollar store above the wreath.

I love it!

Hope you enjoyed.

Have a great day,

Robin

Quick and Easy Christmas Decorating: part one

I like nothing better than a quick easy project.

Thought you might enjoy taking a peak at a few I have scattered around my house.

My favorite of course involves a reindeer!

A shape cut out of cardboard from a cereal box.
A little paint . . .

apply glitter . . .

then attach to a white platter using tape!

This little guy looks so pretty don't you think?

The next project I used a cereal box again.

But added feathers!

One small feather boa from the craft store wrapped around a cardboard circle.

After adding a bow and hanging from a pretty picture frame, she fit's right in with my decor.

Finally, artwork.

Two pretty Christmas cards placed in a frame adds a nice touch.

until tomorrow,

I'm Smiling . . .

I'm Smiling

Why?

A very sweet blog friend passed this award on to me!

My smile is so big I'm surprised I have a face left LOL!

Thanks Sondra!

If you haven't had the opportunity to stop by her blog, here's your chance.

Stop by and introduce yourself!
You'll quickly become friends!

To pass the award along, I've pick eight friends that inspire me on a daily basis.

I'm in love with Lisa's home.   It beautiful!  Go check it out!

Heather has a corner hutch I can't stop obsessing about.  It's always arranged so beautifully.
Plus her love of ironstone has me liking her even more!

I'll never tire of looking at Kimberly's home.  Her style is amazing.

Jodi has some serious sewing skills.  Her creations are always lovely.

I'm new to Pam's blog and so happy I found her.
Pam and I could be twins we enjoy so much of the same things.

Very Merry Vintage Style Blog Button

If you like all things vintage this is the place to be!

If pale and beautiful interiors make your heart flutter, stop on by.
This is one seriously talented lady with a camera.  Her photos are amazing.

Jen is a very fun lady who is right in the middle of a serious kitchen remodel.  Completing most of the work herself, it's defiantly worth stopping by to say hi.
(I'm secretly hoping she finishes her kitchen soon.  Then she can come do mine!  LOL)

Now to share eight things about myself you may not know . . .

#1:  I have a serious sweet tooth.
Chocolate, jellybeans, Carmel, cake, cookies you name it I'll most likely be craving it.  This time of the year puts my in some SERIOUS trouble.

#2:  I enjoy going to the gym.
Most days of the week you'll find me at the gym.
For the last six months I've been participating in a program at Life Time Fitness called My Coach.  Basically, I meet with a personal trainer once a month. He gives me a new weight lifting and cardio plan which I can work on at my own pace.
I love it!  It really keeps me motivated.  And I'm loving the results.  The weight loss is slow going but I'm feeling great and muscle definition is emerging.

#3:  I'm extremely shy.
Meeting new people face to face is a terrifying event.
I get all panicky . . .
My  mind freezes up. . .
 I don't know what to say . . .
I feel like an idiot . . .
and start acting all giddy. . .

It's AWFUL!

#4:  Camping is one of my favorite things to do with the family.
I love sitting by the campfire, chatting and relaxing.
Plus the kids love it so much.  I know I did as a kid.

#5:  Gardening is a passion.
Every year my garden grows a little bigger.  Hubby in convinced in a few years the yard will be completely filled in with flowers!  He might be right.  A girl can hope right!

#6:  I'm mathematically challenged.
I've never been quite sure why, I guess my brain just doesn't work that way.

#7:  I'm a homebody.
Hence the name of my blog.  I enjoy happily fluttering around the house.  Enjoying time with my kids and hubby no matter what we happen to be doing.
A couple day away from home and I'm ready to go home.

#8:  I have a serious App addiction.
My itouch and I are tight!
Farm Frenzy, Dinner Dash, StandsO'Fun,
they are all good.  Not a day goes by that I don't "play" a little.

There you have it, eight things you might not have know about me.

thanks again to Sondra for thinking of me!  Your really are too sweet!

until tomorrow,
Robin
