A Hankering For . . . Christmas Goodies

One of my favorite things about Christmas is all the yummy - calorie filled treats that are served everywhere you turn.

I'm sure you have your favorites, I know I do.
I look forward to Mom's peanut butter balls every year and mint chocolate brownies are soooooo good.  This year I wanted to add a something new to our lineup of sweets.

Here are the contenders . . .

Fudge is always yummy, stands to reason Peppermint Fudge would be amazing.

Snickerdooles have been a long time favorite of mine.
But Rolo Stuffed Snickerdoodles???? This blows me away!

Or how about Pecan Pie Bars.  Sounds Yummy right?

Maybe Salted Caramel Bars would be a better choice.

Holiday Touches In the Family Room

The Family Room in my house sadly doesn't get a whole lot of attention from me.  It's normally a kid and daddy zone.  But for Christmas it's fun to add a few items to make it festive.  Even more fun - - the girls helped me decorate.

The coat shelf by the back door received some of our attention.

Photo collages from Christmas's past . . .

And a sweet glitter house crafted by one of my girls a couple years ago.

Dressing up the windows the girls wanted to add a swag of tinsel garland and some Santa's.

Have you seen this sort of hanging things before?
I have no idea what they are called but remember having some Halloween type ones when I was little.  When my mom came across a handful of Christmas themed ones at a garage sale she gave me these two.  They are not at all chic or really all that attractive, but for some reason they make me smile.

The cabinet by the stairs received a wreath to hang over it and the cheater glitter houses I just finished yesterday.

What's a cheater glitter house?
Let me explain.  I started to panic mid-week that I was running out of time to make new glitter houses for my collection this year.  And truthfully, I didn't want the stress of trying to work it in so close to Christmas.  Instead I made a trip to the dollar store and picked up four ceramic house.  You know the kind you see everywhere that are all painted and ready to make a village with.  I slapped some white paint all over the house, glittered the roof and there you have it  --- a Cheater Glitter Houses.
I think they turned out cute.

And finally the shelf next to the window needed a little Christmas magic we decided.

The sweet deer twins my mom gave me for Christmas last year.  I've been patiently waiting to use them.  Aren't the cute.

The sweet little red Santa was a gift from Linda from Itsy Bits and Pieces  (thanks Linda!).  The girls thought he would look great hanging out with the other Santa's and I have to agree.

Hope you all have a great day.

Christmas Bingo Cards

Last weekend my daughter and I attended the Holiday Happening by Pies and Aprons.  We had a great time doing a little shopping.  The highlight for me was having the opportunity to meet the lovely and talented Linda from Itsy Bits and Pieces.  Linda is the first person I've meet in real life from my blogging circle and I sure hope she didn't realize how nervous I was - - I'm a shy sort of person.

We had a lovely chat and then I had time to shop her booth.  The minute I spied a cute little deer bingo card Linda created I had to snatch it up.

Adorable right!
It's looking right at home on my living room picture ledge alongside one of my vintage deer.

I loved the first one so much I picked up another one too!  This one is propped up in a footed silver dish in my hutch.

Linda was sweet enough to send three of these cute Santa molds home for my daughters.  Emily, the daughter that came with me, decided hers looked good on the shelf in the Family Room and I have to agree.  One of the Santa's made it onto a tree with the help of a little ribbon and the third is hanging out on the other side of the shelf.  The girls had so much fun deciding what to do with their Santa's.

Thanks Linda!

Oh and by the way, Linda has an adorable Esty shop where you can find many of her creations or "Bits and Pieces" to make your own.

Check it out:

Little White Deer

I love quick and easy projects don't you?  I have one to share today.

See this adorable sparkling deer?

It used to look like this.  Cute of course, but he had a little chip on his hoof which stood out to me a little too much.

I went back and forth about which color glitter to use.  White or silver, silver or white.

In the end, white won and I couldn't be happier with the results.

This sweet little guy now sits in my dinning room on the desk and adds a little sparkle to the mix.

Another quick project I finished for the Family Room was this framed star.  I simply hot glued the star to some textured scrapbook paper and placed it in the shadow box.

The framed star turned out so well I decided to try my hand at another shadow box.

A placed an illustration from a vintage children's book on a simple white mat.  Then added a scrapbook sticker underneath it.

I love how it turned out.

Hope you have a wonderful day,

Sweet Christmas Dreams

This year I've keep my holiday decorations to a minimum in my room by adding just a touch of sparkle to my normal red and white color scheme.

The bench at the end of the bed holds one of my favorite quilts and a basket of extra pillows.

I added a bowl filled with vintage ornaments to the basket for some sparkle.

Above the bed I've recycled my glitter house display from years past.  I love it so much I haven't done much to change it.  You can read more about it here if you'd like to look at more photos of the houses.

On my bedside table, a simple lantern, a vintage clock and sprig of greenery add a little holiday cheer.

On hubbies dresser I arranged a grouping of flameless candles wrapped in bakers twine to add a touch of red.

I love to use silver coaster's for my pillar candles.  They are the perfect size and add just the right amount of tarnished metal to the mix.  I have to say I'm really enjoying having the candles in my room.  I have the timers set to come on at eight and two so I have a pretty glow in my room all night long.  They are the best type of night light ever.

On my dresser, I've placed a little something special just to make me smile.

The reindeer and sleigh are a new purchase which I was excited to find.  The reindeer is so cute even though at this angle the red eyes are sort of freaky, I swear it's not so bad in person.

The sleigh is filled with tiny bottle brush trees and a star my daughter glittered for me.

The trees I bleached and glittered myself.  I thought it would be fun to try silver glitter instead of my normal white that I use.  Truth be told, I'm on the fence about whether I like them or not.  Since I made them I figured I'd better use them and now I like them more - sort of - maybe.

Hope you all have a fantastic day,

Robin

The Christmas Dinning Room

Hello everyone!

Today I'd like to share what I've done in the Dinning Room for Christmas.  We won't be hosting this year so I kept it simple and tried to make it mix with the adjoining Living Room.

For the table centerpiece I kept things simple with a silver platter filled with candles and things that sparkle.

For me, the star of the show is this vintage Christmas tablecloth.
I found it at the Junk Bonanza in September and have been waiting patiently to use it ever since.

Truth be told I'm not 100% positive this sort of thing fits into the style I'd like to go but one look at the gorgeous images and I was hooked.  I swear I remember my Grandmother having something similar when I was little so it makes me think of her.  Plus the kids think it's cool so that makes it a keeper.

Behind the table on the shelf I have arranged my collection of vintage and new deer.
(I've talked about this in a previous post, here, if you want to take a look)

The cabin I painted and distressed then added the wreath and deer.

Newly purchased deer figures and bottle brush trees mix with . . .

My collection of vintage deer.

Somehow they always make me smile.

I love the way they pop out against all the white.

To the side of the table I've displayed a mix of old and new decorations on the old desk.

A tiny tree with white snowflakes . . .

Sits underneath the book page wreath I made two years ago which I still love and look forward to using during the winter months.

Next to the tree is a cute sparkling white deer which has stolen my heart.

And of course I had to thrown in a glitter house of some kind.  This one is actually an ornament, which fits nicely inside the small cake stand.

And finally, in the corner the piano bench received a pop of red with some pillows and a dish towel used as a runner.  I added two lantern for fun since I can't get enough of candlelight this time of year.

The dish towel is a couple years old but it has a vintage vibe which I love.  Aren't the snowman couple adorable?

Hope you enjoyed the tour,

Robin
