A Farmer's Market Visit

All summer long my sister and I have been talking about going to our local Farmer's Market . . .

yet it never happened!

That is until this past weekend.

We've gone before, years ago, but never this late in the season.  Naturally we were worried that the selection might be on a little on the skimpy side but we shouldn't have been.

Each booth was full of fresh, gorgeous looking produce.

Both of us ended up toting out two extra heavy bags of goodies.

Fresh flowers are always a must for me from the market and this weeks selection was heavy with gorgeous Dahlia's.

Lots of pumpkins and gourds also . . .

Yet sadly, not very many white pumpkins to pick from.
I bought a handful in a variety of sizes from the only booth selling them.

I don't know when my area is going to catch up on this trend of white pumpkins.  I've loved them for years now but every year its a struggle to find any.

I wonder if anyone else has the same problem or if it's just my area?

You can bet I was happy to get my hand on these.

How about you?  Have you been to your local Farmer's Market lately?

There's already talk of going again next weekend!

Bye now,

Robin

Completed Embroidery Projects

Good Morning!

As I'm slowing easing back into blogging I thought today would be a good time to show off a few of the embroidery projects that I worked on over the summer.

I was really into it.

Embroidery projects are one of my favorite things to add to my "To Go Bag".

It's one of those projects you can pick and put down without alot of fuss.

This past summer it was my go-to craft for all of my daughters sports games and while I was camping.  Also perfect for the beach or pool.

Now that I have a good sized stash to work from, this winter will be a great time to sewing them into pillows and quilts.

Have a great day!

Project Challenge #9: Rust

Good Morning!

I recently had the opportunity to join a group of fantastic bloggers for a Project Challenge and I'm excited to share my first project with you today.

This months Project Challenge Theme was Rust!

Thinking that my hutch could use new artwork to ring the in fall season, I decided to mimic the look of rust as best as I could to create a new to display.

This is what I've come up with. . .

Unfortunately the rusty look is not showing as much on camera as it does in real life - - grrr!

But here you can see in the close up both the tree and the letters do a pretty good job of mimicking the look I think.

Supplies Needed:

12X12 canvas
thin cardboard (cereal box)
wood letters
Xacto knife
paint brush
mixture of paint colors
Elmer's glue
Book pages
Hot Glue Gun

To start the project, I found a tree shape that I like in Google Images and transferred it to a piece of cardboard I cut from a box of cereal.  Then using an Xacto knife I cut out the design.

Next came paint, I used a mixture of a dark brown, light brown, dark green and a light grey.  Starting with the darkest color, I used a small paint brush to stipple on a light coat of the paint in a random pattern one color at a time.  I continued adding colors until I had the look I wanted.

I followed the same method to give each wood letter a rusty look.

For the background I ripped some old pages from a book and glued them onto canvas and then painted the edges black to give it a finished look.

Once the paint and glue on the canvas was dried completely I simple added my rusty pieces by gluing them on with a hot glue.

Super Simple!

I think the finished project looks fantastic on my white hutch and has me itch'in to get more of my house decorated for fall.

Now it's time for you to go check out all the other wonderful projects from this challenge, and make sure you say "Hi" when your there.

I'm Here . . . Really I am

It's been a long time, again, since I've blogged.

Bad, I know!

But now that the kiddos are in their second full week of school I feel as if our lives are back to normal enough to start blogging again.

I'm looking forward to working on some projects I've got lined up and to reconnecting with all of you.

Thanks so much for being so understanding of my need to take a break from blogging this past summer to spend time with my kiddos.  I feel they are growing up so fast, I don't want to miss a moment.

See you soon,

Robin

Plant Stand Love

I love the fact that a simple item can make such a difference in a room.

Take this tiny corner in my dinning room for instance.

My one and only house plant has been sitting in this corner for quite some time now, just hanging out on a simple stool  - - nothing fancy, but I thought nice enough.

Add an actual plant stand and WOW!!,

magically the room looks ten times better.

(and so does the plant, which honestly is looking a little haggard)

The plant stand was a thrift store find that I couldn't pass up for two dollars.

Truth be told, I almost didn't get it thinking to myself the stool I was using worked just fine.

But after a coat of paint and a little distressing, the stand is now something I "NEED"!

Makes this simple corner in the dinning room just a little more pretty so we can enjoy these last few days of summer with a little class - - LOL.

Oh and in case your wondering, the plant itself is an asparagus fern that I started growing last summer and brought in over the winter - - it's been a house plant ever since.

Hope your all having a wonderful week!

Eight day's and counting til all three of my kiddos will be back in school full time...

Mommy is looking forward to it!

Bye now,

Robin
