Final Halloween Touches

Good Morning!

I thought today would be the perfect day to show off the final bit of Halloween and Fall decorating that I have finished around the house.

As you can see mostly just lots of pumpkins tucked into pretty spaces.

I enjoy decorating with natural elements like this.

It's quick and easy, always makes everything look festive with minimal effort.

I really like the way this display turned out in the kitchen.

The grouping of plastic, battery operated pumpkins that I gave a faces lift to a couple year back are still some of my favorites to bring out each year.

The fun prints above the shelf are actually cardboard decorations that my mother use to use around the house when I was growing up.  I placed them inside a simple black frame on some scrapbook paper and I think they look fantastic!

Brings back memories for me.

And finally, more pumpkin in the kitchen window.

Simple and pretty!

Have a great day.

Project Challenge #10: Duct Tape

It's time again for another Project Challenge!

This is the second month that I've participated and I have to say I am having a lot of fun with it.

This months theme is Duct Tape,

which I have to admit, threw me for a loop at first.  I spent most the the month trying to figure out what to make but once I settled into an idea it was fun.

Having never made anything out of duct tape before, now I understand why all three of my girls eyes grew big with excitement when they saw me unpack a fresh roll of duct tape from my shopping bag. . . I had to hide it away for safe keeping!

Now that my project is done, that fresh roll of duct tape is fair game for whoever finds it first and I can show off what I made with it.

I found a fun shaped lamp shade at the thrift store and wrapped the whole thing with duct tape . . . .

I then crafted tiny rose buds and leaves to glue onto the frame.

I think it turned out pretty awesome.
Even hubby says it looks nice - which is BIG!

Now I just have to find one of those cool clear glass light bulbs to use and I think it will be really neat!

In case you'd like to make something similar I've put together a grouping of photos to walk you through the steps of the process.
Enjoy!

The finished product is fun and pretty!

Now it's time to catch up with the other inspiring ladies also participating in the Project Challenge this month.

Michelle at Shelstring
Christine at Little Brags

They have made some really fun items.

Make sure to check them all out with the links below.

Why don't you stop and say "hi" while your at it!
Thanks!

Autumn Front Entry

Finally found some time to put the finishing touches on my front entry display for fall.

It's been one of those projects that has taken weeks as I slowly added a little of this and that with no real plan.

I decided this morning, it was as good as it was going to get and that it was picture taking time.

I had a lot of small pumpkins from the garden this year to play with and quite a few made there way to the front entry.

Mums in a bright, cheerful yellow always seem to be my first choice!

I had a hard time finding them this year for some reason.
Lots of purple, white and orange to choose from.

I held out until I found what I really wanted.

The whole display is overly simple, just the type of thing that makes me happy!

And because at my Happy Home nothing is ever finished until there is a touch of red in the mix, this new wreath makes me very happy.

I featured it a couple day's ago.
You can see it here in case you missed it.

bye now,

Robin

Bling Pumpkin

I was in a crafting mood the other day and decided my plain white pumpkin needed a little something special!

A package of gems from Micheal's and some hot glue transformed it into a
bling pumpkin.

I'm obsessed with anything sparkly lately so you can bet I'm digging this pumpkin!

I didn't take the time to put together a tutorial but I did film a mini tutorial which you can watch below if you'd like some details!

I'm thinking I need to make a few more!

How about you?

Need a Bling Pumpkin in your life!

Bye now,

Robin

Revised Front Door Wreath

My front door is sport'n a fresh looking new wreath that I put together with supplies I had on hand.

Don't you just love when projects work out even when you don't really have a plan!

Just a handful of supplies and a glue gun can transform a plain old wreath.

It's a great pop of color for my white front door.  And I'm really liking the rustic look of it.  Perfect for this time of the year!

I didn't make a step by step tutorial but I did film a quick video which I'll share below if you'd like to see my thought process throughout this project.

So pretty!

Have a great day and I'll see you soon!

Fall Dinning Room

Good Morning!

Yesterday I was able to put the finishing touches on my decor in the Dinning Room and I thought you might like a quick look at what I've done.

Once again, I really wanted to make sure my decor felt bright and airy but still give the room a cozy, festive look.

A simple white tablecloth hides the oak table beneath and give me a great base to work with.  I then added white dinnerware and silver flatware.

For a pop of color and texture I paired the dinnerware with a soft flannel napkin in a lovely plaid.

The napkins are so nice, I may end up making a few more to have on hand for Thanksgiving.  Not only are they super soft and helpful to use, I love the color it adds to the mostly white table.

For a centerpiece, I wanted something rustic looking.

This plank of distressed wood makes the perfect base.

I next added this chunky pillar candelabra that I found at the thrift store.  I have been waiting months to use it, seems so perfect for this time of the year.

Around the base of the candelabra I slipped on a simple grapevine wreath.  I then attached a berry vine to the wreath by simply weaving it over and under the twigs of the wreath.

And what's a fall centerpiece without a pumpkin or two!

I added two small pumpkins from my garden and some tin letters to fill in the remaining space on the distressed wood plank.

I think the whole arrangement turned out very nicely.

Every evening the battery operated candles I placed on the candelabra flicker on and makes the whole room glow - it's so pretty.

On the tiny mantel shelve behind the table I hung a pretty fall like print above the shelf.

I kept the shelf itself overly simplistic.

I think it looks fantastic.

Simple faux branches of leaves tucked into a small tarnished sugar bowl.

Not only is it a great pop of color but simple and gorgeous!

A tiny pumpkin resting in a simple oval ironstone dish is the perfect accent under the print hanging above it.

On a corner table a trio of pumpkins and a unadorned grapevine wreath bring a little festive fun to the room.

So there you have it.

My fall Dinning Room.

I am so pleased with how it turned out.

I'm thinking I will only have to add a few more items to transition it into a fresh look for my Thanksgiving table. That will be a big time saver for sure!

Hope you enjoyed . . .

bye now,

Robin

Quick and Easy Cozy Flannel Blanket

Digging my stash of flannel shirts out of storage is one of my favorite things about fall.

I am crazy about flannel!

I wear it just about every day!

So when I wanted to include a new throw blanket in the living room to add some color and texture to the space it didn't take me long at all to jump on the idea making it out of flannel.

It's Soft. . . It's Warm . . .  It's Plaid!

Did I mention I'm crazy about plaid too!

What's more perfect than Plaid Flannel??

There is just no better fabric for fall.

Also the perfect way to add some color and texture to your room.

Plus it's a simple five minute project which makes it even better.

Supply List
2 yards of flannel fabric
scissors
thread
sewing machine

Pick out a nice heavy weight flannel at the fabric store, prewash and iron if needed (I didn't bother).

The two long side seams already had a nice edge to them so I left them alone and moved on to the two raw edges at either end of the fabric.

Create a quick hem on each of the raw edges by folding the fabric over twice to encase the raw edge, pin in place.

Then simply sew a straight line along the length of the fabric, removing the pins as you go.

As quickly as that you will have a new flannel blanket to throw over a chair or on the sofa for the next time your ready to cozy up with a good book!

Or a puppy as in this case.
Shelby Girl didn't give up her new spot for a couple of hours!

The kids have discovered it also . . .

I have a hard time keeping track of it as kiddos wonder off with it all the time.

May have to sew up a couple more just so everyone can have one.  LOL.

Have a great day,

Robin
