How To Make a Decorative Dog Silhouette

Morning Everyone!

Today I have a very fun project for dog lovers like myself.

I have been wanting something new for the top of my hutch.  I have really been wanting a vintage weather vane to use for the space but they seem to be elusive in my area.

As a substitute I thought I could make something to give me the look I craved.

So today I'm showing off my modern take on a vintage weather vane.

I guess it's more of a silhouette then a weather vane, but you get the idea I'm sure.

Whatever you'd like to call it, I think it turned out really cute and I am so happy I have it a go.

I now have the perfect accent for the top of my hutch!

If you'd like to specific on how I made it just watch the super handy video tutorial below to get all the details.

Project Challenge #2: Clock Face

Good Morning!

It's time once again for another Project Challenge and I just have to say I am having such a fun time with these challenges.

We have such a great group of creative ladies and every month I am inspired by their unique creations.

This months challenge is the Clock Face and I decided to paint up a over-sized clock face which I hope has a farmhouse feel.

I decided to stick with a traditional black and white color scheme which I am totally obsessed with at the moment.

I am so glad I did . . . the finished clock makes me smile.

I love the over-sized scale of it and think it's just perfect for this small table in my Dining Room.

It adds such a great point of interest to an otherwise boring little corner of the room.

If you'd like to see a tutorial on how I've created this clock just watch the handy-dandy video below!

Why don't we go check out what the rest of the group has created for this challenge.

These super talented ladies are sure not to disappoint when it comes to creativity!
So many unique and interesting takes on the simple clock face.

Thrift Store Makeovers Using Paint

Good Morning!

Hope you all are having a wonderful week.

Today I have four quick and easy thrift store makeovers I've just complete using paint to share with you.

We all know how transforming a new coat of paint can be but it never hurts to sing it's praises.

Like with these four items.

All of them were perfectly fine to use in their "found" state but a little bit of paint makes them so much better and more customized to fit my home.

Paint,

It's a DIYer's magic potion.

Love it!

If you'd like detailed instructions or a few tips on how I paint you can have a look at the video below that I've put together for your viewing fun!

Have a great day and I'll see you again tomorrow.

Black and White Cottage Style Living Room

Good Morning Everyone!

Hope your having a wonderful start to your Monday morning.

To I'd like to share my newly decorated Living Room that I was able to put the finishing touches on this past weekend.

I am so happy with the finished look of this room.

It seems for fresh and bright, perfect for getting me through these last few months of winter.

The best part of this makeover is that I didn't have to purchase a single new item to make it work.

Instead, I shopped my stash of decorating supplies and used leftovers from previous projects to craft a new look for the room that I really like.

~ ~ ~

This adorable cast iron dog that my husband gave me a while back sort of became my inspiration for this room.

Plus for some reason when sticking to a two color room theme I find it much easier to pull the whole room together then when trying to use multiple colors.

I typically like the finished results much better also.

I am pretty sure it has a lot to do with my love of keeping things simple and not cluttering up  my rooms with alot of unnecessary stuff.

Whatever the reason,
 I am so happy to have found a formula that works for me and my family when it comes to this often times frustrating job of decorating a home.

Getting back to the room at hand, I gathered items to use as accents in this already white space like this mirror I hung above my DIY Barn Door.

And then I crafted new items to use from previous project leftovers.

Like the tiny flags draped over the barn door - - made from leftover fabric from a quilt I made a while back for my daughter.

Thrift store finds like this candelabra and tattered books helped me not only bring in more accents of black but also to give the room an aged, collected overtime look that I like.

Somehow or another,

 just a touch of red made it's way into the room.

For those of you who know me well, this won't surprise you at all.

I really did try to resist the urge but since it was paired with black and white it was not hard at all to let down my guard.

Overall, simple displays crafted around the black and white theme carries the room and makes me smile.

I have a feeling I will be enjoying this room just the way it is for quite some time in the near future.

Hope you all have a fantastic day.

Awkward Corner Solution

Good Morning!

My Living Room and Dining Room share a big open space in my home, a space that over the years I've found a pleasing furniture arrangement that I like.

Well for the most part anyways.

You see I have this awkward corner area that sits right smack dab on the invisible line that separates the two rooms.

A corner that I never know what to do with.

Add a little something and it looks, well to be truthful, ridiculous.

Add something big and it looks overdecorated and cluttered.

Add nothing at all, and it seems like it's calling out for a some attention.

Leaving me frustrated to say the least!

~~~~~
Here's the space I'm talking about.
What do you think?  Needs something right?
The other day, in an attempt to find a solution, I started moving things around, lugging potential items in and out until I stumbled onto something I think worked well.
A simple arm chair!
Could the answer to my problem really be so simple?
I'm thinking maybe so!
But since my heads all messed up and frustration levels are high in regards to this tiny little space in my room I thought I'd ask all of you for your thoughts on the matter.
Too Much,
Not enough,
Or just perfect enough to let it stay?
Seriously, Help!
Hand-Painted Pillow Covers
Happy Monday Morning Everyone!
I am enjoying this wonderful morning and looking forward to the fresh, new week ahead.
Seems sort of crazy since outside it's cold and windy but inside it's cozy and the weather doesn't seem to be affecting my enthusiasm for a productive week.
And speaking of excitement, this past weekend I was able to work on a project I've had on my mind for awhile now.
If your looking for a quick and easy project these Hand-Painted Pillow Covers might be just the thing for you!
I am sort of obsessed about the "arrow craze" I've seen popping up all over in home decor of late but sadly have very few of my own to add to my home.
 With arrows on my mind I thought painting a few on some pillow covers would be a quick and easy way to add them to my decor.
Two Ikea premade pillow covers in white, some basic craft paint and a paint brush was all I needed to get started.
I first sketched out two designs that I liked and then copied them onto the pillow covers.
Next up, paint and a paint brush - simple as that!
Once the paint had dried a couple hours, I threw both pillow covers into the washer, followed by the dryer.
This gave the paint a more distressed, "doodle art" look that I was hoping for.
They both turned out better than I could have hoped for.
The perfect way to add a little fun to my living room.
Below you will see I have a video tutorial if you'd like a more detailed description of the steps I took to make theses pillow covers.
Enjoy!
