Fun Finds

I have no idea where this week went!

However, I do know it's Friday and time to show off some fun finds!

It's a good thing I did a little shopping last Saturday so I'd have something to share today . . . no way would I have had time to find anything with the day's flying by so fast. LOL.

Let's get to it . . .

First off, I was able to find two new pressed glass, footed dessert cups.  They match perfectly two I already have.

I was so excited.

When not being used for a tasty dessert, I love using them for tea lights.
They give off a pretty, sparkling glow.

I also found two small chalkboards.

The kids have been loving them,
I guess I'll have to sneak off with them when I want to use them for displays.

Had to make a deal with one of the kiddos just to take a pitcher of the small one.
I got a photo out of the deal, but now I'm out of dishwasher for this evening!
Rats.

And finally, I picked up two forest prints.

My family thinks they look sort of cheesy, and they do I admit, but something about them just draws me in.  At the store, I debated about them for a long time . . . in the end I just couldn't bare letting them go.

How about you?  Any great finds this week?

A Fresh New Plaid Tablecloth

I am so excited to show off my latest sewing project.

A few days ago I finished sewing a new tablecloth for the dinning room table and I couldn't be more excited.

You see, I have been obsessing over this photo for months.

Isn't it fabulous!

I instantly fell for the over-sized gingham print with it's ruffled edges.  And as if that wasn't enough, layering the pretty lace over the top had me swooning!

Ever since being inspired, I have been looking high and low for reasonably priced fabric so I could recreate the look.

I had just about given up my quest until a thrift store miracle occurred.

I was glancing through the bedding section of the store and happened to find a red plaid, flat sheet.  It was super soft, thick cotton and I knew it would work perfectly for a tablecloth.  Plus with a price tag labeled three dollars,  no way was I passing it up.

I cut the sheet to the size I wanted and used the leftovers to create an easy pinch pleat for the bottom.

I love how it turned out.

I am still looking for a lace panel to go over the top.

In the meantime, I layer a pretty table runner from my stash in the middle of the table.

I think the pretty hand stitching and delicate edging looks amazing against the bold checks of the tablecloth.

On top of the runner, I placed a distressed beadboard box I built  filled with fake flowers as a centerpiece.

I would have loved to fill the box with hydrangea's but they are so expensive this time of the year.

I looked for something else to use instead at my local grocery store but all their flowers were in a sorry state.

For now, the fake flowers give me the look I wanted and keep me happy.

The overall look is very cottage / farmhouse looking to me and I am loving it.

Bye now,

Robin

Wintertime Hutch

Last week when I showed off the living room's winter decor I completely forgot to include the hutch.

This weekend I hope to start adding a few Valentine items to the hutch so I had better show off a few quick photos before I start changing things out.

I will keep it short and sweet today, my kiddos are home again today with school cancelled for yet another day of frigid weather.  Hopefully, I can get through this post before I'm called away!  LOL.

Like the rest of the living room, I tried to keep the color palette limited to white and black.

I am enjoying the finished look quite a bit.

It's simple and pretty.

Yet a good mixture of textures and shapes to keep it interesting I think.

Favorites like vintage silverware and baby's breath.

And my homemade chicken wire cloche make me smile.

As does the stack of distressed books and the rusty metal cow.

I thought this little pitcher needed a little something extra, so I added a handful of rolled book pages.

And finally, a wire basket filled with my resent score of yarn keeps it handy when I find the time to start a new project.

Hope you all have a wonderful day,

and stay warm!

No School!

Good Morning!

I have a very HAPPY group of kiddos at my house today!

Schools been cancelled, once again, for excessively cold weather.
Right now it's -15 degrees combined with a nasty, strong wind they are saying it feels like -31 degrees!

I braved the elements this morning to drag the garbage can to the curb, that was enough for me!

This happy crew of kiddos and I will stay inside - where it's warm!

Hope where you are is warmer than here,

Fun Finds

Today I have a few new items to show you from my weekly treasure hunting trips.

First off are these two white pitchers.

I always get excited when I find white pitchers and I'm sure most of you are the same way.
The petite size of these two had me very excited.

The next thing I found was a trio of well used croquet balls.
Can't wait to use them in my decor this summer.

And finally, I picked up this wood tray!

It's sort of wonky in shape but it reminds me of a dough bowl a little.

I figure I'll be able to find somewhere to use it to add a little touch of natural wood to my decor.

How about you?

Any fun finds?

Paper Crafts: Flowers and Feathers

I don't know about you, but my Pinterest Boards are filling up faster than I can do anything about them.

This past weekend I thought it was high time to tackle a few projects I had been wanting to try my hand at for while.

The first project I tackled was making paper flowers.

They turned out being much more easy to make than I thought they would be.

I had so much fun making them, I even tried them in a few different sizes.

I've scattered them around the house, adding them to different displays for a little something extra.

In case you'd like to make your own,  I followed the directions from HERE.

Paper feather making was the second thing I tried.

Another quick and easy craft that adds an extra special touch to my displays.
I love it.

To make your own feathers, follow the instructions and use the template HERE.

Happy Crafting
