Simple Springtime Hutch

Good Morning!

I woke up this morning with an overwhelming need to change my hutch display.  Everything seemed to fall into place and I was able to finish the project in record time.  I am really liking the fresh, springtime look.

In order to keep things simple, I selected a color combo of white and pale blue and pretty much stuck to it as best as I could.  I just love pale blue this time of year, to me, it's pure springtime.

I wanted it to have a "spring" feel instead of a "Easter" to carry on into the end of June.  A few cute bunnies ended up in the mix which I think is ok, they will be easy to switch out when I'm ready.

Simplicity was my main focus.

And of course, pretty things like flowers . . .

And birds just seem so natural for this time of the year.

Knowing me, clear glass canning jars are always in season.  Of course I had to add a few of them into the mix.

Hope your having a wonderful day,

Talk to you soon,

Robin

Pretty Flowers and a New Sign

Good Morning!

Hope you had a wonderful weekend.

The family and I had a busy weekend but mostly we enjoyed the fantastic warm weather we received.  The kids went to the park, took the dog on walks, I even completed a few small outdoor projects.  The best part  - - not a single pair of gloves, hat or coat was required to enjoy the sunshine.

With all the glorious sunshine, I knew there was no stopping myself from splurging on a bunch a flowers during my weekend grocery shopping trip.  I had my heart set on a pretty bunch of white tulips.

Sadly, their selection only had purple and pink left.  With my mind set on white flowers, I picked out a mini plant of these instead . . .

I'm so happy with my choice.
I haven't stopped smiling since I placed them on the kitchen table.

Oh fresh flowers, how I've missed you.

This weekend I even had a little time to get creative.

I painted up this camping sign to use in my Family Room Mini - Makeover that I'm scrambling to finish before it gets too much warmer outside and I lose focus.  LOL.

I think it turned out cute.

bye now,

Robin

Fun Finds

I have a few FUN FINDS to share with you today.

The first of which is the rustic twig baskets.  Isn't it lovely?

I can't wait to use it on my sun porch this summer filled with pretty flowers.
Right now I plopped a fern that I've somehow been able to keep alive all winter into it.  I normally have such bad luck with house plants, so of course I am thrilled that it's looking . . . well . . . alive!

This next find took me by complete surprise.
Typically I'm not a duck person but when I say this little guy I was smitten.

He's so tiny and I love all the realistic details to him.
I figured I'd be able to find a place for him somewhere.

And finally, I was so excited about this find.
A vintage cookbook.
I have a small collection of maybe three books and I love each and every one of them.

I love how thick the book is and it's fun tabs too!
It's simply filled with wonderful idea's.
Printed back in 1940, I've been giggling over some of the recipes listed, however intrigued at the same time.

I have a few recipes I can't wait to try.
I'll be sure to share them if they turn out as wonderful as I am hoping they will.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend and I'll see you again next week.

Bye now,

Robin

A Hankering For . . . a New Makeup Haul

A few times in the past I've talked makeup with you all.
It's not a normal topic here at Happy at Home but with all the exciting new products out there right now it's all I can seem to think about.

Just like with my home, my makeup collection begs for a little updating with each change of the season.  Spring and summer makeup is always so much fun for me because of all the pretty colors.  Eye shadows, bronzers, eye liners, blush . . . it's all exciting!

Here are a few of the items I would really like to get my hands on.

Lets start with a new to me makeup company that I have hear a lot of great things about . . . It Cosmetics.  The Naturally Pretty Vol. 1, Matte Luxe eye shadow palette looks amazing.  Normally, I'm one that ends towards eye shadow with a little simmer but the colors in this all matte palette are so pretty I am very, very tempted to give it a try.

I have also heard amazing things about It Cosmetics CC Cream.  I've heard it has great coverage and is most often used without any other foundation.  I think it would be great for summer.

And the last item from It Cosmetics . . . Celebration Foundation Illumination.  The last time I was at Ulta I was playing with this foundation and was very impressed.  First of all I prefer powder foundations and this one is so creamy feeling and light on the skin and very bendable.  It claims to be a full coverage foundation that will also give your skin a glow.  This is one product that I think I will be picking up very soon, I'm so curious.

Next up is a blush from NARS called Super Orgasm.  It's a peachy, pink color with gold glitter which looks so, so pretty.

And talking of pretty look at this blush from Hourglass.  It's called Ambient Lighting and it looks amazing.

Being a huge Urban Decay fan, I'm really excited to try their Naked Flushed palette of bronzer, highlighter, blush combo called Native.  It looks prefect for the summer.

Maybelline has some very pretty new blushes also.  Their Master Hi-Light Blush in Pink Rose looks truly amazing.

Cover Girl's Lip Perfection Jumbo Gloss Balms look very pretty too.  They have a ton of colors and I can't wait to try them.  They must be very good since they always seem to be sold out at my local stores.  Love the packaging too.

I LOVE lip butters so I am itching to get my hands on the new NYX Butter Lipstick.  They have a ton of colors I think it will be very hard to pick between.

And finally, Maybelline has a new line of nude shades of lipsticks in their Color Sensational line.  I can't wait to get my hands on two different shades.  Both the Nude Lust and Sinamon.  Both look like they would work great with my skin tone.  I have very high hopes for this collection since finding a good nude color for my lips is very hard to do.

That's it for today's list.
Have you tired any of these products?
Would love to know what you think of them.

A Touch Of Spring In the Kitchen

Good Morning!

I have finally found the time to spruce up my shelf in the kitchen that has been sitting bare and neglected since I took down my Christmas decorations.  I know, it's terrible, but better late than never I guess.  LOL

Since it's now officially springtime I wanted a display that looked cheerful and simple yet wasn't "springtime" specific.

I started by bringing back my favorite cow prints that I love so much . . . thanks again Linda!

In front of the prints I grouped together three white pitchers.  The tall pitcher on the left is one of my newest thrift store finds.  No matter how many white pitchers I have, I'm always thrilled to find another one.  Are you the same way or am I just a little too obsessed with them?

The next item I added back in was my white rusty scale.  I'm sure a lot of you may remember it;   somehow my kitchen displays just don't seem finished with out including it.

I topped the scale with a pretty crocheted doily and a white chicken dish.

Next to the scale I placed a new to me pewter cream and sugar set inside a oval shaped ironstone dish.  It's the perfect pairing if you ask me.

On the other side of shelf, to help balance the pewter set, I place my collection of miniature salt and pepper shakers inside another ironstone dish. This collection is a very new obsession of mine and have to say I can't get enough - - they are just so adorable.

And finally to fill out the shelf, I place a chicken wire basket filled with faux flowers on the shelf.  If you missed yesterday's post I showed how to sew the fabric liner for this basket.  You can check it out here.

On the hook below the shelf I added a pretty apron I found last week at the thrift store.

Not at all practical for whipping up a chocolate cake but with it's pretty lace it looks wonderful on display - - plus it adds a homey touch I think.

I also added a simple mini basket to the hooks.

I played around with different items to fill the basket but in the end I enjoyed the look of it empty best.  This way all the attention is on it's shape and size which I love so much.

That's it for me today,

Sewing Basket Liners

Hello Everyone!

I have a quick and easy project to share today.

If you've stopped by my blog often you've probably know how much I adore wire baskets.  I prefer them over a wicker basket any-day but sometimes it's nice to be able to hide contents of a basket which is tricky with a wire basket.

Every now and then basket liners become a necessary.  Not only is it a fun look, they are simple to make.

The basket I'm sewing a liner for today is a small one I picked up at Walmart a while back.  It's only 6 inches tall and the opening is about 5 3/4 inches wide.  Whatever size basket you'll want to make a liner for this tutorial should give you a general idea of what to do as long as it's a circular shaped basket.  Just adjust your fabric size to fit.

Here is what the basket looked like before adding a liner:

And here it is with a liner . . . cute right!

I've tried a picture tutorial format this time to make things quicker.
Please let me know if you like this style or not for future tutorials, thanks!

Follow along below to see how I sewed the basket liners.

And that is it!
You now have a pretty new liner for your basket.

Here is an example of what it looks like in the basket with a cuff.

And here is an example without a cuff.

Using the liner either way would work out great I think.

You can see that I made the liner slightly shorter than the top of the basket.  Personally, that's the way I like it.  You could always adjust things to your preferences.

I prefer using the liner cuffed and am thinking they are prefect for spring!

Have a great day,

bye now,

Robin
