Spring Time in the Dinning Room

Today on this beautiful spring morning I have a newly redecorated Dinning Room to share with you.

The finishing touches were added just this morning.  How about that for a great start to the day!  LOL.

I am very much enjoying the pretty, simplicity of the room and hope you do as well.

On the table, a simple white soup tureen is filled with gorgeous white roses.
I just love white roses, don't you?

So classic.

For a little something special, I added a pretty silver tea-light holder ...

...and a vintage set of salt and pepper shakers.

For an extra layer of softness, I placed a pretty table runner width-wise across the table.

I found this gorgeous fabric at the thrift store just last week.
It was just long enough to fit the table perfectly.
This morning, I cut it to the size I wanted and frayed the edges.  That was all I needed to do for a pretty springtime table runner.  The subtle hint of blue helps blend the Dinning Room into the colors I have going on in the adjoining Living Room.

Behind the table I kept the shelf, the blackboard and my favorite sign.

Hoping for a simple, airy looking display I rounded up a few favorite items to help me out.

Items like pretty, white pitchers and serving pieces.

And clear glass candlesticks for some sparkle.

To help down-play the black of the chalkboard, a homemade boxwood wreath was hung over the edge of the frame.  I think it added a  fresh springlike look.

If your interested in making your own boxwood wreath, you can take a look at the tutorial on how I made mine here.

All in all, I think I accomplished my goal of a pretty, airy look for the space.
I'm liking the fact that it seems to have a very classic look also, something I've been craving lately.

Hope you all have a wonderful day and I'll talk to you soon,

Reversible Signage

Good Morning!

Sorry I haven't been around much lately.  Lost my motivation for a while, but now I'm rested up and ready to tackle some projects.

The first project being a new sign to hang in my living room.  If your like me, I try to use one in almost every room just because they are so fun.

After scrounging around my pile of scrap wood and coming up empty handed I had the brilliant idea to reuse the existing sign I had hanging in the living room.  It was the perfect size, so I took it off the wall, flipped it over and started painting my new sign.  Easy Peasy!

Here is what the old sign looks like.

I'm now calling it the "winter sign".

And here is my newly painted sign on the other side.

Or otherwise called the "spring sign".  LOL

It was the perfect solution, plus now I have another pretty sign but it won't take up any more storage space. A win - win.  May just have to do this with all of my signs from now on.

In case your wondering how I hung the sign, I used these handing helpers.

Love these things and use them all over the house.
Just used the poster sized ones for the first time in my daughters room.
They work like a charm.

Have a great day,

Robin

Fun Finds

I so love Friday's and being able to share with you what I've found for the week.  Nothing like getting a deal on Home Decor.

First up is this pretty twig basket.  I know I've shared a few of these baskets with you in the past couple months but I just love them so much I can't pass one up in good condition.

They just look so lovely filled with flowers.  This one will join it's other friends on my porch come planting time.

You may remember this pretty candy dish from earlier in the week.

I was so happy to find it.  You see I have been on the lookout for one to fall in love with for over two years.  I've passed up countless clear glass versions in hopes of finding something that would make my heart skip a beat.

This one does it for me.

Candy dishes may be old school to some, but for me it's a little slice of luxury.

I've filled it with my favorite hard candies - - Jolly Rancher's Ruby Red Mix - - Yummy, yummy.

The best part, my kiddos haven't figured out it's filled with candy yet . . .don't even know if they know what a candy dish is, it's the first we've ever had . . .  so for now my stash is safe.

And finally today, a small set of fragile, pretty white dishes.

I love the feel of them and I'm never one to pass up a good deal on white dishes.

I really like the simple pattern to them.
But what I like most is how dainty they feel in my hand.  And also the fact for some more than others, time has changed it's finish to warm tan color and added tiny cracks all over.  It's hard to see in the photo, but in real life them seem so old and precious.

So there you have my Fun Finds for the week.

What did you find?

Spring Desk

Good Morning!

Sorry I haven't been around much this week.  I don't have anything to say for myself other than I've been playing hooky.  Sometimes taking a few days off is good for the soul.

I feel refreshed and ready to get back to my projects.

Speaking of feeling refreshed, I managed to freshen up the desk area in the living room this morning.

I'm loving the simple spring-like display surrounding my favorite desk and sign.

Nothing grand or over the top, just simple and pleasing to the eye.

I first started by laying down one of my pretty table runners.  I love the edging detail on this one - - isn't it gorgeous.

Faux blooming branches in an old enamelware coffee pot where added next to bring  a touch of the outdoors inside where I can enjoy it.  The large ironstone platter underneath is a recent fun.  I was thrilled to find it even though it's worn and stained.  Neither of which bothers me in the least.

On the other side of the desk a simple trio of item fills out the display.

I don't know about you but I love using glass canning jars everywhere this time of year.  Doesn't matter if they are filled or empty.  They give a gentle sparkle to a display, and help the room feel open and light filled  - - plus they scream "farmhouse" to me which is always a win, win.

This new candy dish was a thrill to find recently at the thrift store so of course I had to work it into the display somehow.  I'll talk more about this beauty come Friday in my Fun Finds post so I won't bore you with all the details now - - lets just say I'm loving it.

So there you have it.  I newly spruced up space in the living room.

At this rate, maybe I'll have the whole room finished by the time it's July!  LOL.

bye now,

Robin

Fun Finds

Once again I have some fun stuff to share with you from my weekly thrifting trip.

First up is this sweet corner shelf my eleven year old called dibs on as soon as she saw it.

I think it looks great against her pretty teal walls.

I am beyond delighted about these next two finds.

Vintage garden tools are way up near the top of my wish list this time of year so of course I couldn't be more pleased to have found two items to add to my collection.

First a pretty green colored pruning shears.
Isn't the color fantastic?

And Second, a yellow painted handle on a weeding fork.

I love how both items look well used.

Next up was this pretty white bowl.

To which I added a stack of new to me playing cards

And last but by no means least, a beautiful ceramic barn.
I have always wanted a toy sized barn and this one will tied me over until I find one that I fall instantly for.

Hope about you?

Any fabulous finds?

Ever happen upon a blog that makes you gasp out-loud in pure delight on your first visit?

After quickly adding it to your favorites list, you dive into it's archives . . . and then you realize that you're going to have to redo your whole entire house . . . because this style is what you have been waiting for your whole life!!

That ever happen to you?

Yep, me too.

Wondering which blog I'm talking about?

Some of you may know it already, but the rest of you are in for a treat.

The blog I'm talking about is written by a delightful woman from Norway named Vibeke.  She has a beautiful blog called Vibeke Design which you MUST check out as soon as possible.

Vibeke sure knows how to do white right. And not in a stuffy, over the top, don't sit there kind a way.

Oh, NO!   more of a comfy, relaxed, understated, yet highly stylish, rustic sort of way, with a hint of color thrown in too that gets me very excited.

I could ramble on and on about how much I enjoy Vibeke's style but I think a few photos from her blog would make a better impression on you.

Here you go . . . try not to fall off your chair!
