Let The Bathroom Makeover Begin!

Today's the day and my excitement is high.

The main bathroom is getting a face lift - - do the happy dance with me!

It's looks like this for the past couple of years.

Supplies have been gathered and the prep work has begun.

This light fixture . . .

Will be replaced with this one . . .

The bright yellow wall color will be replaced with a creamy white color.
And these hooks will be added to hold towels.

I'll have to paint the ceiling in order to fix this problem left by the previous owner.  Something I was too lazy to deal with the last time I paint this room but has been driving me CRAZY lately.

All morning I've been working on removing chalk from around the tub and sink that also has blue paint on it - - NOT a fun job at all!

I've also removed the baseboards in preperation for new flooring.  Apparently I'm not qualified for this since I cracked about half of it.  Looks like I'll be looking for some new stuff to replace it.

Next I'll be patching nail holes and replacing things like this . . .

Yep - - more blue paint.  I'm seriously begginging to wonder if the previous owners let their kids paint the walls.  It's everywhere, even on the shower surround.  Does anyone know how to remove paint from that?  Some of it scraps off easily but most of it seems unmovable.  If anyone has any suggestions I sure would love to hear about it.

It's lunchtime now, so I guess a break is in order.  I always forget how long the prep work takes - - so frustrating when all I want to do is break out the paintbrushes.  Hopefully, by the end of the day I'll have a newly painted ceiling and walls.

Oh, by the way this photo is my inspriation.

You may remember I shared it a while back.  I'm loving the touches of pale blue, the white walls and the vintage accesories.  I'm hoping I'll be able to add my own spin on it for my bathroom.

Wish me luck!

Robin

We are still working on the kids/guest bathroom. Today we ordered a TOTO toilet. We are expecting lots of rain, so not sure if we'll get much more done. It's taking forever!!!

Good luck with your bathroom redo. Everything you do is always so great, so I know that your bathroom will be gorgeous! Keep us posted.

  10. Can't wait to see how it turns out. I hate, hate, hate to do prep work. But that really does look like a two year old got ahold of the blue paint.

  12. It's going to be beautiful Robin!!! And seriously lady, you are starting to freak me out. We are living in a parallel decorating dilemna....first the big oval honey oak dining table....now the "hollywood" light fixture. I have TWO of those sad things in my downstairs bath...one on each side of the mirror. Ick. Can't wait to see your transformation!!!
