Bath Update

The bathroom update is well under way.
I was able to finish painting the ceiling and the walls.

Have you ever painted a popcorn ceiling.  If not, let me tell you IT'S NOT FUN.  I had no idea you can't go over a spot more then once.  You should have heard all the noise coming from that poor bathroom the first time I started rolling OFF the popcorn.  I was in shock for about two seconds and then my inner sailor came out - -Whew!  Not a proud moment for me let me tell ya.  I soon figured it out and only had minor problems after that.

Next came the wall paint which I was able to finished off without any "sailor moments"  much to my relief.

Hubby helped me install the new light fixture and faucet which make such a drastic difference in the room.

Next we will address the flooring.  I have a flooring guy coming sometime today to get me an estimate and then we'll just be waiting until it can be installed.  I have to confess I'm feeling a wee bit extravagant about having the flooring installed.  But hubby convinced me that since it's such a small room it would be best to have someone do it.  Plus I think he is hoping I'll pay close attention during the install in order to learn how to do it.  Sneaky, sneaky man - - but I'm cool with that - - will do honey, just remember six months from now when I tell you it time to rip up all that nasty carpet in the living room - - you started this ball rolling!  LOL!

As I wait for the flooring to be installed so I can get on to the fun part of decorating I thought I'd give you a little glimpse of the new changes.

I'll be replacing the electrical outlet face plates with these. . .

Standing in the electrical aisle at Home Depot was not very inspiring but I knew I wanted to replace the old cheapo plastic covers.  I found a few options but they all seemed overly ornate,  I wanted some that would blend in not stand out.  Plus the price tags were a shock.  $10 to $15 for a single outlet cover - - ahhhh, I think not.

I finally decided on two standard paintable/stainable wood covers thinking I could paint them the same color as the walls.  Plus they were a great price, together they were under $10.

I had a little mishap while painting them which had me sanding them down a little.  I loved the look so much I kept going and now the covers look a little shabby.  A couple coats of wipe on Polly will protect them from grubby little fingers.   I plan to install them later today, that is after I figure out how to scrap off the blue paint currently on the outlet pugs without getting myself electrocuted.

The new facuet has also been installed.

I just love the porcelain knobs.

And last but not least, the light fixture was a much needed improvement and looks AMAZING installed.
Here's a close up of one of the three globes.

Oh, and you can also see a little of the new paint color behind it.  Isn't it pretty!

Now I just have to install a few hooks, finish caulking around the sink and then I can start working gathering up pretty assessories for the room.

Until tomorrow,

Robin

  8. I can't wait to see it! So far I love it; the light and the fixtures look awesome; and that little sneek peek of the paint, pretty!!! Um...yes that popcorn texture is a bugger! We had it in our bathroom, we scraped it off, what a mess! That stuff was a horrible designer idea!

I would agree to get a prof. do the floor; hubby and I did ours in our bathroom and we were almost divorced over it!
