I am so excited to show you my latest project.
A headboard shelf.
When we purchased a king size bed three years ago I just couldn't bring myself to spend oodles of money on an overpriced headboard.
After three years of waiting, it was time to do something about it. I drew out a plan, purchased supplies and went to work.
Now, instead of a big blank wall staring at me every time I walk into the room . . .
I have a beautiful headboard shelf to fill up with all my current favorites.
The shelf really helps bring the whole room together.
I added moulding to give it some detail.
And slightly distressed the finish.
Figuring out what to place on the shelf was by far the most difficult part of the project.
I tried arrangement after arrangement and finally came up with something that I liked.
The print is from Ikea that I picked up a few years back - - still a summer favorite.
The small frame I painted and distressed by scraping the topcoat off with a paint scraper - love it.
And since I'm a girl who likes balance, I made another small frame in the same fashion.
Have a great day!
Robin
p.s. you can see how I build it here.

What a wonderful idea. I love it. I am redoing a guest bedroom and don't have a headboard, but I do have a big shelf. This is pure genius. I hope you don't mind if I copy. Love your vignette too. Hugs, Marty
