Fourth of July Craftiness

I've been getting a little crafty this week for the Fourth of July.  All my project were super simple and quick to finish, which is perfect for me with the kids underfoot all day long.
The first project inculded two oversized frames, white poster board and red scrapbook paper.

I simply cut the posterboard to fit the frame.  Next I cut out six star from a textured scrapbook paper.  After simply linning up three stars and gluing them onto the posterboard I had a quick and easy accent for the living room walls.  I placed one frame on either side of the large window and I just love the graphic punch!

The next project took a little longer to complete but it was worth it.  A simple scrap of 1X12 lumber and some paint produced a new sign to hang up.

Fourth of July always seems to have me humming the "Hail to the Chief" song so I thought a quick printout would be fun.  The kids keep telling me it says Hail to the Chef - - works for me, LOL.

You can't get more simple than framing a small flag.  I picked up a four pack of tiny flags at Target, simply removed the flag from the stick and slapped it in a frame.  The red star was also a quick project.  The stars were purchased unpainted at micheal's.  I simple gave them a quick coat of red spray paint.

And last of all, on a recent shopping trip I found this adorable garden gate.  It was unfinished so I quickly gave it a little red paint and then distressed it.  Maybe it's not really a Fourth of July decoration but since it's red I'm saying it is, LOL!
I have a few other things I may get done before the fourth but I'm in no rush to get started on them.  It's just too hot here in Minnesota to rush around to do anything.
How about you?  Any crafting going on at your house?
Talk to you soon,
Robin

New Additions

The front yard garden is coming along nicely.  Almost every item on my to-do list has been checked off.  Soon I'll be able to show you the finished product but for today I'll be showing off some new plants I've added to the beds.

First off, I picked out a lovely Dahlia at the greenhouse.  Sorry I don't know it's name, I forgot to keep the planting tag.

Regardless, I think it's BEAUTIFUL!

I also added two Boxwood shrubs. . . I love me some boxwood.

Also added a ground cover shrub rose.  It looks a little beat up at the moment from all the rain we've been getting but when it's in bloom it's so pretty.

I've also added a two dwarf daylillies in yellow, two meadow sage plants in a deep purple color and light lavender colored speedwell . . . which I forgot to take pictures of - - Oophs.

Have you added any plants to your garden lately?  I'd love to hear about it.  Nothing gets me excited quite like new plants for the garden.

Have a lovely day,
Robin

Flower Basket

Good Morning!

I have a quick and easy garden project to share today.  Last week I picked up a basket from the thrift store for a dollar.  I liked it's shape and thought it would be prefect for flowers.

After a quick shot of spray paint and a little sanding to make it look more aged, I place a moss hanging basket insert inside the basket and then simply planted my flowers.

I love how it turned out and can't wait for the flowers to fill in a little more.  Plus I love how easy it's been to move it around the garden.

Hope you have a great day,
Robin

Front Yard Update

My front yard project is coming along and I thought you might like seeing what I've been up to.

The edging bricks have all been placed.

And new garden soil has replaced all the rocks.  The only thing left to do is mulch the garden beds and grow some new grass.  I'm so excited to have this project all most done.

While I've been busy working, nature has been busy too.  The shrub roses and saliva are beginning to bloom.

Aren't the roses so pretty.

I love watching the buds open.

The saliva is looking good too.
I love this plant for its pretty color and wonderful smell . . . when it's in full bloom. . . when it's not blooming . . . not so much.

But for now, I'm loving the color . . . take a look - - gorgeous right!

Hopefully by next week I will be able to reveal all the before and after pictures.  It's looking so good right now I can't wait to see how it looks once I have the mulch in.

Have a lovely day,
Robin
