Artful Blogging, I Thank You

If you've happened to have experienced the delight of flipping through the newest issue of Artful Blogging you may have noticed an article by yours truly!

I was thrilled to be contacted a few months back to be featured in an upcoming issue.
My excitement was quickly replaced with pure terror at the thought of writing the article.   You all know me . . . I may be a crafty girl with a green thumb but a writer I am NOT.

Most posts, I stumble through by the skin of my teeth.
I'm so thankful for each and every one of my faithful readers that encourage me along my blog journey dispute my lack of writing know-how.

In the end, my terror was replaced with excitement once again even though I joked with my hubby that the article was going to be a Hot Mess!

I am so grateful to Artful Blogging for giving me the chance to step out of my comfort zone and try something new.  It was an exciting personal adventure which I am thankful to have been given the opportunity.

Hope you all have a wonderful day,

Robin

Dreaming About . . .

. . . A Gravel Patio.

I've lusted after the gorgeous gravel patio's seen online and in magazines for years.  I'm thinking it's time to make it happen.  I have the perfect spot for it and all the supplies leftover from my garden path project a couple years ago so it should be an easy thing to get done.  I'm hoping to get started on it sometime this week.

Until I can show off my own patio a thought a few inspiration photos were in order . . . Enjoy!!!!

Magazine Delight

Do you remember my fascination this past summer with green Zinnia's and Dill?
Imagine my delight when paging through the newest addition of Cottage Style magazine and discovering my favorite green and yellow duo featured on their glossy pages.

(isn't this dinning room amazing!)

Here's my arrangement from July.

**sigh**
Still love it.
Have you picked up the newest copy yet?

And since were talking magazines,
I decided to treat myself to one that I've been wanting to try for a long time.

I purchased it through this lovely shop, littlecottageshoppe.  I haven't had time yet to sit down and go through this beauty.  After flipping though a few pages I know I'm in for a treat.
Have you ever read this magazine?  Would love to hear your thoughts on it.

Enjoy your day and I'll talk to you soon,
Robin

Book Review: At Home With Country

I recently had the chance to read Christina Strutt's newest book.  Have you read it yet?
I swear the lady can do no wrong.  The book is gorgeous.  Simply oozing with inspiration.
I love her simple, uncluttered yet colorful take on decorating.
A few of my personal favorites from the book include this table.
I'm over the moon about the color.  It's simple lines and distressed state had me falling for it even faster.

And since were talking colorful painted furniture what do you think about this bench?
I love it.

It's not always about color.
I'm drawn to shape and simplicity as well.  Like in this photo.
(I'd take that bench any day - - but did you notice the mailbox?  I'm swooning!!!)

Here's an example of using white and a single accent color in varying shades.  I have to say this is my favorite thing to do.  It always looks amazing and is a very "achievable" look for a person like me who is not overly talented in the decorating department.

Need another example?
Simple black and white.  You can't get a more classic combination.  Here it looks both classic and modern, cozy and country all at the same time.

All in all, the book is great, one I'm sure to reach for time and time again.

Until tomorrow,
Robin

Knocked My Socks Off . . .

I'm still taking my sweet ol' time getting back into blogging, BUT I didn't miss this. . .

Thought I'd share, just in case you hadn't seen it yet.

Isn't it fabulous.
I'm about a hairs-width away from trying to recreate it myself.
I have a troublesome wall in my dining room which would be perfect for something like this.
Now if only I could recreate everything on it too!  LOL.

Hope you all had a great weekend.

Knocked My Socks Off . . .

This weekend I found some very pretty photos to share with you. . .

A pale and pretty Union Jack pillow.  Isn't it just perfect with all the ruffles?

I thought this was a lovely grouping  . . . might have to start a collection of camera's soon.  I've been seeing them pop up here and there - - I feel a crush coming on!

I have a crush on this. . .

(via A Cottage In The Woods)

I'm really enjoying this grouping of vintage style prints.  Reminds me I need to find some artwork for my walls.  Something like this would be perfect and fun.

This photo gets my heart pump'n real fast.  I have a collection of two toy metal phones.  One white, one red - - this one would fit right in.   It's a silly collection I know, but something about it makes me very happy.  I'm always delighted to stumble upon one at flea markets.

And last but not least, since I'm dreaming a bit today - -

I'll take one of these please!
Oh!  And throw in a couple white ducks to wonder around the yard that would be PERFECT!

Until tomorrow,

Robin

Weekend Inspiration

On the weekends I look forward to spending a little extra time browsing blogs for inspiration.
This past weekend was very inspiring for me.
Here are some of my favorites.

I'm loving this simple, paired-down kitchen in pale colors.

This sweet little bench caught my eye, along with all the creamy white accessories.

It seems my obsession with turquoise continues.  How fabulous is this cabinet!
The lamp base is a great color too!  I like the mix of the two colors together.

My ironstone loving side is crushing on this.

And my tarnished loving side is swooning over this.
I love the birdcage collection.

Hope you all are having a great Monday,

A Rediscovered Favorite

This past weekend I rediscovered a favorite photo clipped from a magazine years ago.

It's been so long I can't even say which magazine it's from.

I loved it then,

I love it now.

I've been on a big red and white kick lately.

These beautiful examples fit right in.

I love the simplicity of the stitches, yet the overall look is stunning.

My embroidery skills are extremely rusty, but I'm feeling the urge to give it a go.

I'm thinking along the lines of a pillow or a quick throw blanket for the living room.
I'll keep you posted.

I'm Crushing on . . .

I recently discovered their online shop and I'm telling you I'm in love with
VERY. SINGLE. PRODUCT!

They have an amazing range of products from industrial type lamps to vintage children's toys.

Here are some of my favorites. . .

A cast iron school bell - AMAZING!

vintage draw pulls
*sigh*

I'm sure I could make a spot for this little lamp.

How fun are these!
I'm pretty sure my brother use to play with a car exactly like the red car on the right!
Hmmm, wonder if mom still has it packed away somewhere.

So, go check them out . . .

I bet you'll be crushing too!

Until tomorrow,
Robin

I have some lovely pictures to show you today from an old issue of Country Home magazine, a la' August 2000, I miss Country Home - it was by far my favorite magazine.

Naughty me, I swiped it from my mom's stash over the holidays in order to take a couple pictures of a few pages that caught my eye. DON'T Worry, mom's coming over today and I'll return the magazine to me - grudgingly!

Sorry the photos aren't the best.

I love this room. All the white and red accents. The creaming white walls. The layed back furniture. Oh, and the faded sign over the fireplace - love it!

Did you notice the pillow on the couch! How adorable - American flags and pom-pom fringe, a perfect combo.

My red loving, chipped paint infatuated heart is SWOONING over this simple fabulous bucket. Where can I get my hands on a bucket like that!

This photo jumped out at me also. Love the black stools, the wide plank floor and of course the signs. Ah! the signs. I've got to figure out how to make my own since I have no luck finding this sort of thing on my trips to the antique store.

I thought this arrangement was stunning in an old trophy. Guess what item has been added to my "must have" list - - I bet you guessed an old trophy with graceful handles. Man! you ladies are good. Anyone else as infatuated as I am?
