Christmas Countdown Mittens

Good Morning Friends.

Sorry I've been MIA for the past couple of weeks.  After Thanksgiving, I dug out box after box of Christmas decorations and have been holed up inside decorating ever since.

I think I'm almost done.  Last year it took me the better part of the month of December to finish it all.  This year I was determined to get it all done in the first week of December in order to enjoy the season with my girls.

In our home its tradition to hang the countdown mittens in the kitchen window to signal the start of the season.  I like to be sneaky and hang them up bright and early before the kids wake up on December first.  I find it so fun to watch their sleepy eyes light up and a brilliant smile spread across their faces.

Everyone knows what the mittens mean . . . soon we'll be picking out trees, baking up our favorite treats and wrapping presents.

Funny how simple shapes cut from felt has become such a big part of our Christmas celebration.

  2. That's a cute idea. I had thought of making an advent calendar this year, but never got around to it. And now December has already started!

  5. Can you say CUTE? I love them. But I don't think my grown sons would appreciate them as much as your kids.

  7. So cute!! Its fun having traditions that our kids look forward to. Our youngest is away at college,,I was putting up the Christmas tree all by myself, so I phoned Ben and told him what I was up to. He told me to be sure and put his ornament aside so "he"could hang it on the tree when he gets home :) made my heart smile!!
