The Family Room in my house sadly doesn't get a whole lot of attention from me. It's normally a kid and daddy zone. But for Christmas it's fun to add a few items to make it festive. Even more fun - - the girls helped me decorate.
The coat shelf by the back door received some of our attention.
Photo collages from Christmas's past . . .
And a sweet glitter house crafted by one of my girls a couple years ago.
Dressing up the windows the girls wanted to add a swag of tinsel garland and some Santa's.
Have you seen this sort of hanging things before?
I have no idea what they are called but remember having some Halloween type ones when I was little. When my mom came across a handful of Christmas themed ones at a garage sale she gave me these two. They are not at all chic or really all that attractive, but for some reason they make me smile.
The cabinet by the stairs received a wreath to hang over it and the cheater glitter houses I just finished yesterday.
What's a cheater glitter house?
Let me explain. I started to panic mid-week that I was running out of time to make new glitter houses for my collection this year. And truthfully, I didn't want the stress of trying to work it in so close to Christmas. Instead I made a trip to the dollar store and picked up four ceramic house. You know the kind you see everywhere that are all painted and ready to make a village with. I slapped some white paint all over the house, glittered the roof and there you have it --- a Cheater Glitter Houses.
I think they turned out cute.
And finally the shelf next to the window needed a little Christmas magic we decided.
The sweet deer twins my mom gave me for Christmas last year. I've been patiently waiting to use them. Aren't the cute.
The sweet little red Santa was a gift from Linda from Itsy Bits and Pieces (thanks Linda!). The girls thought he would look great hanging out with the other Santa's and I have to agree.
Hope you all have a great day.
Robin
I've heard them called plastic popcorn before, but I don't know if that's the correct term. But I love them!!! I don't have any, but I remember that Santa from my Mom's house. They make me smile too!
ReplyDeleteVery cute as usual, Robin! I always love your decorations with your touch of red! :)
ReplyDeleteI do remember those decorations, like the santa and the halloween ones. They were bumpy, not sure what they were made of, but they are cute and they do make you smile. ;)
I think your cheater glitter houses turned out just fine, your little village looks so pretty with the little trees. :)
Looks so pretty, Robin! I love the coat shelf by the back door, how convenient. All of the touches of Christmas you have added are perfect. I especially love the vintage red box.

ReplyDeleteI just love your decorating, Robin! And I think Santa looks right at home there!
ReplyDeleteWe had those plastic decorations hanging in our parents house when we were growing up. One year we made them in grade school with bunched up tissue paper glued to cardboard. Wish I had saved mine!
