Oven Baked Bacon

My hubby is a BIG fan of bacon.

Poor man has been deprived of his favorite many, many times simply because I have been lazy and unwilling to deal with the mess that frying up a package of bacon entails.

That is until very recently when I happened upon a new fabulous way to prepare my man some bacon.

Bake it!

Say What??

Yes, Bake the Bacon!!!

Now I'm not sure if this is a new thing or has been around for a while and I've just been living under a rock in the boonies...

But it's a game changer for me and I've just have to share it with all of you!!

No more grease splattered cook top to clean up and tiny grease burns on my hands.

No more fanning screeching fire alarms between flipping bacon and calming a panicked puppy who thinks the world is coming to an end from all the racket made by said screeching alarm.
(seriously happens every time!  grrr)

Now preparing bacon is a breeze.

Simply line a shallow pan with aluminum foil and lay the bacon out on the pan making sure the pieces are not touching.

I use two cookie sheets for one package of bacon.

Then place the pans in the oven, turn it on to 400 degrees and bake for about 15 minutes, less if you use a convection oven.

The result is perfectly crispy bacon  - - - hubby approved even!

Clean up is a snap too.

Just let the grease cool in the pan and then roll up the aluminum foil and toss in the garbage.

See what I mean - - Game Changer!

Now I have no problem making hubby some bacon.

He's a happy man!

Bye now,

  5. Yes!! My sister taught me this a couple of years ago...so much easier! It's my 10 year old that loves bacon here. His favorite shirt says "I <3 Bacon"...so proud ;)

  8. I will have to try this. I have heard of it, glad to hear it comes out so good. I too always hate the mess bacon makes. I started microwaving it several years ago, still a little messy, but much less than on the stove top. :-)

Have a blessed and happy weekend...

  9. Yes, this was new to me too until a couple of years ago when friend casually mentioned baking bacon. My sister then chimed in saying that all the restaurants do it that way. I thought, where have I been, and why did these two not clue me in on this! So, yes, it's only baked bacon for me now.

  10. I've seen that idea floating around for a few years and wondered if it really works. Glad to know it does!

We often cook our bacon outside. Our grill has a burner on the side and my hubby stands out there and cooks it. I could eat bacon every day but the mess and the smell definitely slow me down.

  11. I've cooked bacon that way for years. Much easier than messing with a frying pan and then cleaning afterwards. Plus if you are cooking for a large family or get together it's a much quicker way of cooking a large quantity at the same time so that you can actually sit down to eat with the rest of the family instead of having to stay in the kitchen frying the bacon in batches that fit in the frying pan.
