Beadboard Star

With 4th of July decorating idea's swirling around in my head, I'm feeling the crunch.

But it's only June 2nd you say...I know!  Don't worry, I'm not crazy!(yet!)

But you see, schools out soon and two weeks in June we have camping trips planned.  Plus, I'm always at my parents for the 4th so I have to decorate early just to enjoy them.

Fourth of July is my second favorite holiday of the year
(can you guess my first favorite?).

It's so festive and fun.

Good old red white and blue decorations,
Old Glory fluttering in the breeze,
white picket fences,
sweet watermelon,
lazy lounging in the grass,
laughter of over-sugared kids,
breathtaking fireworks. . .

**SIGH**

It's all too perfect!

I've been racking my brain for something new to add to my decor this year.  For some reason, beadboard and stars stuck.  Might have something to do with this sitting in my garage for the past few months.

I had grand plans for it couple months back, but as you can see after the glue dried the plywood base curved . . .

Ummmmm, pretty sure that's not what I had in mind.

It was banished to a dusty, cobwed filled corner of the garage until yesterday.

I dug it out, drew a star shape on it and using my trusty jigsaw, cut out the shape.

Next I dry brushed on some black paint.

Ta-Daaaaaa!  It worked!

Now I have a nicely distressed beadboard star.

I placed the star on top of my hutch and surrounded her with a few things so she wouldn't get loney.

Love it!

Love it so much, I now have plans to make a few smaller ones in red!

Have a great day,
Robin
