A Hankering For . . . A Wood Stove

I can't be the only one who thinks wood stoves are the ultimate in country comfort.  I dare say if I had to choose between a wood stove or a fireplace I'd choose the stove EVERY TIME.

I love the way they radiate heat and make a room so cozy and toasty.

Not to mention the anticipation of warmth the scent of wood smoke gives as you finish outdoor chores on a crisp winter day.

Or how about the pretty glow the stoves give off once you turn down the lights each night.  It urges you to sit back, prop up your feet and reflect on your day to the song of subtle pops and snaps as you watch the flames skip and jump around inside.

Wood stoves are also so very useful.  Besides bringing heat to a space they are so handy for a weekend breakfast with the family.  And how helpful it would be to always have a kettle full of warm water for impromptu cups of tea or hot coco.

Now I have always dreamed of owning a traditional black wood stove . . .

But then I saw this red beauty and my heart skipped a couple beats.
I had no idea they sold them in different colors!

In the end, I suppose the color doesn't really matter.  It's the stove it's self that is calling out to me.

How about you, do you hear it calling too!

  2. I grew up with a wonderful black woodstove. I always hated having the carry the wood into the house for winter, but I loved the warmth and coziness it gave our home. We have an electric one in our home now - it throws good light and some warmth, but it just isn't the same....

  4. We've been looking at getting a stove, too! Watching the news reports of the power outages out East, made me realize how bad it would be in winter here without power. So many pretty models, too!

  5. I would LOVE a wood stove too. They can really save you tons on your heating bill. Although I couldn't lose my fireplaces because I love those too- I guess I want both, ha!
