A Great Start

This past Friday I had a great trip to the thrift store.

One find in particular has jump-started my long term plans for our sun-room.

I've always wanted the space to be a comfortable and pretty place to sit and read or chat.  It overlooks my back yard garden so it's the perfect place to hang out and take in the pretty view.  I've wanted a fill the room with potted plants.  Then bring in vintage accessories, throw pillows and small table to accommodate breakfast or lunch.

On Friday I was delighted to find this small scaled sofa.  I knew right away that it was the perfect piece for the sun-room.

At first I was not crazy about the flower print.  I was drawn more the classic shape and style of the sofa.  I figured a slipcover was in it's near future.

Now I'm not so sure.  It's growing on me.  I know for sure it's legs will get painted.

I can barely contain my excitement over this sofa.  I've waited so long for the perfect sofa to add to the sun-room.  Now that I've found it I can't wait to get started giving the room a makeover.  Sadly, my garden is in need of a lot of attention right now so the makeover fun will have to wait a while.

It was fun sharing my excitement with you today though.  It will have to hold me over until after all my outdoor work is done.  You can bet I'll be dreaming up possibilities with each weed I pull!

Hope you all have a wonderful day,

Robin

  1. Love your sofa and it is definitley a fabulous find. I have a small settee exactly like it. I love it too. The floral print is stunning for a porch. 5. This is so pretty, what a great find! I can see where you are going with the sunroom. I wanted my living room like this, soft, comfortable and pretty. My sofa is floral and the sunlight has faded it a bit and makes me love it even more.

Have fun with your garden, you're going to have a pretty view from this gorgeous~to~be room!

  6. Isn't it so fun when you've waited so long to find just the right piece and you finally find it? I love your sunroom, it's so perfect overlooking the garden. I, too have so much work to do in the garden this weekend. Weeding, pruning, weeding :) I can't wait!

  9. Oh! I love it! The fabric is perfectly shabby! I agree - paint the legs- they'll recede and be less heavy-looking. Is it comfortable??

  10. That is a delightful little sofa, I love the colours in it. If it were mine I would pull out the colour or colours that I particularly love and use that as my colour for pillows, rug and accessories. I know you will have it looking perfectly lovely, because you are very good at that kind of thing. I look forward to seeing it when you've finished it.

  14. The sofa fits perfectly in your sunroom. For me, the slipcover was fine. You don't really need to change it. The huge glass windows emphasize its beauty. Anyhow, I don't know what your entire sunroom looks like, but how about having a round table in the center? Do you still have space for it?
