Signs Of Spring

Good Morning!

I am feeling like a very bad blogger this morning.  The realization that I haven't posted a single thing in over a week and half hit me this morning. I knew it had been a while, but I seriously didn't think it was that long.
Helping out my sister, dealing with sick kids, and the start of spring after school activities had seriously impacted my blogging time.

I back now . . .  I promise.

I'm feeling energized and ready to tackle some projects.

This past weekend spring arrived in my neck of the woods.  The snow banks are shrinking, the air is warmish and fresh smelling and the birds are starting to come back.  I'm not foolish enough to believe that old man winter has completely vanished - - it is March after all, we sometimes get some big snowfalls during the month of march - -  but for now I'm enjoying the spring-like weather.  Shelby and I have a nice long walk planned for this afternoon.  Our first together since she's joined the family that we won't have to battle bitter cold wind and frozen paws.  I'm really looking forward to it.

In celebration of today's spring-like weather I started to redecorate my hutch this morning for spring.

I really don't have a plan yet for the hutch other then I want to add pretty pops of color in pale blue to the mix of white that I have.

I rediscovered this vintage book on North American birds today while I was going through my stash of vintage books looking for blue or green ones.

I thought it would be fun to prop it open to display some of the pretty colored birds illustrations.

The book goes rather nicely with this bird figure I picked up Friday at the thrift store.  Isn't she sweet?

The hutch re-decorating is going off to a great start I think.
Hopefully I'll have the whole thing finished later today so I can show you more.

bye now,

Robin

  1. Good Morning Robin,
This post really brought back some memories. When I was a little girl my school was right across the street from the public library and my Mom worked two blocks away at Sears Roebuck. So after school I would go to the library and wait until she got off work. Many afternoons I would loose myself in volume "B" of the Encyclopedia Britannia looking at all the pictures of birds. There is something so free and beautiful about them :)
    Thanks for the memory
    Your blogging sister, Connie :)

  3. I love spring weather, just like I love our basically perfect weather all year long. After this long crazy winter and reading about all my blog friends' winter woes, I have to say I admire all of you. You must jump for joy when spring arrives and you can take a leisurely walk with your dog.

I love the bird book on display.

  4. I think the winter really zapped a lot of us. I know I wasn't feeling inspired the last two months. But there is light at the end of the tunnel!

  5. There you are, yay!!! I love your new gorgeous little bird and I agree with putting the open book there - great minds think alike :) I recently did the same thing with my childhood story book (60 years old!!!) - why leave it closed on the shelf when you could be looking at those adorable three little kittens, right?!
