Picnic Blanket From Vintage Linens

Good Morning!

Who doesn't need a snazzy picnic blanket? 

I was in desperate need of a new one to replace the tattered, faded blanket I've used for like ever!

After sorting through my stash of linens I decided to use a chenille bedspread and a matching flat sheet to make a new picnic blanket.

Here's how it looks all rolled up and ready for a the great outdoors!

Cute right.

It's perfect for the backyard too!

My girls have been using it quite a bit this past week.

For a little added comfort, I made a pillow cover for a travel sized pillow to match the blanket. 

I love the pattern on this fabric.

Plus it's so soft and comfy feeling which the kids appreciate.

Once the kiddos are done relaxing in the shade they simple roll up the pillow inside the blanket and tie it all together - - okay,  maybe I do that part!  LOL

Supply List

1. bedspread, blanket or sheet for the top layer.

2. sheet or blanket for the bottom layer

3. thread

4. scissors

5. sewing machine

Step #1:  Preparing the Layers

Step #3:  Attaching Tie Straps

Step #4:  Sewing Layers Together

Pause to shoo away helper. . . 

Step #5:  Finishing The Edges
