Morning!
Remember earlier in the week when I talked about going to Ikea with my sister?
Well...we had a fabulous time, spent over three hours shopping and spent way more money than we probably should have but it was all worth. Ikea's always a fun place to shop but with my sister it's even better.
A few of you express interest in what I was going to pick up so I thought a quick haul post was in order.
My sister had a list of things to look for and pick up, I on the other hand was along for the ride and just hoping I would find something to bring home with me.
The first item I decided on was this small, white garbage can to be used to hold doggie food. Let me tell you this is a big improvement over it's replacement...a ice cream bucket!
I'd say this is much more stylish and charming to have tucked into the corner of the kitchen.
It's the perfect height too! Shelby is just slightly too short to be able to stick her nose in there and steal food.
For this next find let me just say I don't know where I've been all these years.
In past trips to Ikea I've always skipped over the pillow section for some reason, not realizing the gems they have!
I picked up two 20X20 inserts and two covers.
All four items together where just under $18!
I'm still in shock I think.
Have any of you bought Ikea pillows before?
I'm curious about how they will hold up . . . did I just find the best place ever to purchase throw pillows or will they turn out to be ho-hum?
I stood in the pillow section for a very long time trying to figure out which slipcover to pick up. In the end I just couldn't walk away from this cute flower print.
For now I have them adding a little softness to my metal chairs in the kitchen.
Soon I'm sure reality will set in and I'll move them somewhere else in the house where they won't end up on the floor quite so much.
For today, I'm loving the softness they add to the eating nook.
And then of course there are the curtains.
I picked up a new set of semi-sheers for the living room. They have a nice cotton feel to them and I love the way they diffuse the light with a soft glow even on a cloudy, gloomy days like today.
They have a pretty raised stitched design on them that make them a little more interesting than a simple panel.
I love them.
I picked up another set of curtains just for the fun of it.
As you can see I haven't opened them yet since I really have no idea where I'm going to use them right now.
These are simple lace panels with a scalloped edge. Truthfully, I have never in my life owned a pair of lace curtains so I'm sort of stepping out of the box with this one but for some reason I was drawn to them. They may end up in some sort of project instead of in their traditional role - - we'll see.
And last but not least, I fell for another set of pillows.
I saw these during our walk through the idea's area. They're what prompted me to search out the pillow section to begin with.
A little more spendy at $32 for both covers and inserts but still a pretty good price I think.
I love the linen like fabric they are made from. The pretty detailing in the middle and the sweet ruffles along the sides make them easier to love also. LOL
So there you go . . . my Ikea haul.
Not that exciting I guess if your not into curtains and pillows.
Being that I'm on a big pillow kick right now you can imagine I'm one happy lady!
Have a great day now,
Robin
what a great haul Robin! Oh how I wish we had an Ikea store nearby. I adore that trash bin and your white pillows for your bedroom. They have such great prices.
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely buys, some new additions to the home in january is always joyfulxx
ReplyDeleteYou got some good stuff! I went to Ikea this month too and one of my purchases was the white pillow that you have on your bed. I wish I would have got the insert too! I love the little lidded bucket. I may have to get one next time.
ReplyDeleteRobin,
ReplyDeleteGreat finds! I am totally in love with the sweet detail and ruffles of the pillows for your bedroom.
I hope you are fit as a fiddle now-all well!
xx-

Can't believe y'all went to Ikea and didn't take me :) Re: pillows, I have one that's been on my bed for several years (decorative, like yours in the kitchen) and it's holding up fabulously. I really love Ikea products, the price is right, the look is great, and the quality is fine. Glad y'all had fun.

LOL, next time we'll give you a heads-up! Good to know that the pillow will hold up to my kids for a while. Makes me want to go back and pick up some more.

DeleteLOVE IKEA...I have the same curtains!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou found so many cute things, Robin. I have been wanting to go to Ikea for awhile but it's two hours away so I just haven't had time to go. I really love the sweet pillows on your metal chairs!
ReplyDeletedear robin, what great pictures and inspirations !!! love greetings from angie from Germany
ReplyDeleteYou picked up some nice things, Robin. I have one of the flowered pillows and it is good quality in my opinion. I have purchased several pillow tops from them and they have all been excellent quality. Even the cotton velvet ones stand up to children sitting on them and you can just throw them in the washer and dryer. (Just in case you want those some time)
ReplyDeleteI love the scalloped edged lace curtains, I had those in the little vintage cottage that we sold in May.
I am going to IKEA tomorrow...I will spend a whole lot more than you did, I have birthday presents to buy for people!
You got some great things Robin!
ReplyDeleteI got my curtains for my living room, den and master bedroom at Ikea...they wash beautifully (with a little ironing)!
I love what you picked up at IKEA, Robin. Pretty pillows and curtains can really freshen up a space.

You have picked some really nice pieces. I have purchased several pillows and pillow covers from them and have been very happy with the quality. I must say that a few hold up even better than the more expensive brands. They are easy to care for and retain their shape. Thank you for sharing your haul.
ReplyDeleteWOW Robin - you did good! Your pillows are so sweet and what an amazing price. I agree, the one's on your bed do look like linen and I too love that ruffle detail. Great finds!
ReplyDeleteI love your blog, inspiring!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love the bed pillows & the hanging curtains. You have great taste in my opinion!
ReplyDeleteI bought the same two pillows that are on your bed. I loved them so much that I bought my mom a set for Christmas. So pretty and feminine. I have several Ikea pillows and love them all.
ReplyDeleteI love the floral cases! and it makes me wish I had an Ikea nearby. I've got two pillows that need sprucing up. I've always like lacy curtains, but never had any.
ReplyDeleteOh yes!!!!! I am an IKEA junkie! Where to begin with your fantastic finds....You will love the white curtains (which I have had before switching out to a different curtain from World Market). I think the pattern on them is called Swiss Dots..? As for the pillows holding up, I have had no problems. The only thing that I have found with their inserts is that once in awhile you will get a firmer one than another. Being as they are rolled up at the store, you won't know how plump they are until getting them home and unfurled. That floral pattern is adorable! And I have the same pleated one, too. IKEA is wonderful and won't break the bank. I'll share some of my finds from there in a few weeks. Just finished our guest bedroom and will have to share. Have IKEA curtains there, too.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your beautiful home! So happy you stopped by my blog because your comment lead me to yours and I am your newest follower. Just so you know, I am having a bit of difficulty adding you to my blog roll. There is a glitch with the system right now. But I'll keep trying.
