A New Quilt From Vintage Sheets

Good Morning Everyone!

Hope your having a fabulous day!

Like may of you the past few weeks I've been obsessing about spring.  Can't wait for it to arrive and crossing my fingers that it will be soon.

While I wait for the snow piles outside to slowly melt away, I've been concentrating on changing things up inside my home to give it a pretty, fresh new look for spring.

For some reason or another I always seem to start in my bedroom.

I haven't finished the room yet, but I thought today would be a great day to show off the two sewing projects I've completed for my bed to add some of my favorite springtime color of all - pale blue.

Using two vintage sheets from my collection, I was able to quickly make a simple patchwork quilt to lay across the end of my bed to add a pop of color.

I think it's very pretty but at the same time I've realized that I don't really care for the look of two patterned fabrics side by side.  I wish I would have added a solid color between them instead.

Oh well, we live and learn - - this was a good way for me to define just a little more what a truly like.

In the meantime, I have a lovely new quilt to use  - - I'd call that a win - win!

On a little sewing side note for you ladies out there who happen to sew also - -

to attach the three layers of the quilt I decided to finally dig out the walking foot that I've had for two years but never used out of pure terror and let me just say it was MIND BLOWING!

Talk about a life saver!

The quilt went together so smoothly and I didn't get frustrated or angry which is my normal custom when trying to piece together a quilt without a walking foot.

Amazing how easy things can be once you have the proper tools!

Shelby Girl thinks the quilt is pretty too!

I'm hoping she'll ignore it mostly though because as she is not one to chew on an occasion shoe, she does however find it enjoyable to nibble on our blankets from time to time as most of them in our house can testify to!
Such a sweet face, but such a stinker sometimes.

The second sewing project for the bedroom was this body cover pillow.

I wanted to use somehow reuse the pretty boarder from the sheet that I used to make the quilt since it seemed too pretty to toss.

I think it turned out very well even though truthfully I was impatient to finish the project.  I had a problem with the thin weight of the fabric puckering a little more than I would have like while piecing the front panel together but in the end I'm fairly happy with the outcome.

I find I am really like the look of one large accent pillow on the bed instead of multiple smaller versions. Much less fussy, but still pretty.

Have a great day,
