A Hankering For . . . A Parasol

With everyone so vigilant about wearing sunscreen these days I wonder why the parasol hasn't come back in fashion more!

Such a useful item it could be on hot summer days.

I see big umbrella's used at sporting events and on beaches but they are normally not as pretty as a parasol.

I love how this catches them striding along! the top of my dress is a little like the woman's on the right (but black!) Royal Ascot, June 1921

I for one would love to see a rise in their usage.

I think it would be fun.

A cute little sundress and a matching parasol would be perfect for so many occasions on sunny days.

There are so many options too. . .

Or mix a lacey number like the one below with cutoffs and a tanktop,  add a string of chunky beads around your neck and you'd be rocking a simple BoHo inspired look.

I'm just saying,
parasol's could be a versatile accessory for summer that not only looks good but is functional too.

I may just have to start a fashion revolution and start using one wherever I go.

Do you think it will catch on?

  1. Great post!
I've been using an umbrella against the sun for years now. Reactions are always positive. Yet, I don't see many using them in the sun. The positive is umbrellas are better than hats because they cover a wider area, don't keep heat build up on your head, help keep bugs, birds and tree stuff from falling on you, some have UV protection fabric, and they are good when it rains.
If you can find waterproof trim and fabric, then embrellas can be decorated like a parasol. Interesting vintage prints aren't easy to find at a good price. I shop eBay for vintage umbrellas. The child size is easier to use than the larger walking stick size.

  2. These are so pretty...and really ARE a great idea. I can't be in the sun much so have some big hats...but I do have three cute old plaid umbrellas! Maybe they'll come back in style lol!

  3. I think you have set a trend! Let's all get parasols instead of the sticky suncream. Good idea, really!

  4. Too hands free world now. I can't see anyone giving up holding their iphones long enough to glide along and hold one. LOL
But they are amazing and if lady like ever comes back in style, I am sure they will trend.

  5. It would be a really cute idea, especially if you are sitting outside for long periods of time. I sometimes see people using umbrellas at ball games to keep the sun off. You just have to make sure you're not blocking someone's view. Any how I enjoyed all the beautiful parasols in your post. They are all beautiful.

  6. Very great post. I simply stumbled upon your blog and wanted to say that I have really enjoyed browsing your weblog posts. After all I’ll be subscribing on your feed and I am hoping you write again very soon!

I love hearing from you. Thanks for stopping by!
