Happy Spring Fabric

I don't know about you but I am CRAZY about fabric. I spend hours at Joann's and online looking and drooling over fabric. Sewing is one of my hobbies that never disappoints me. Unlike scrapbooking, gardening and home decorating, I am always happy with my results. Don't get me wrong though, I get frustrated and sometimes wish a project had turned out a little better. But all that doesn't matter. Once a project is done I seem to forget its little "problems" as I walk past it in it's new home. The fabric sings to me and I smile.

That being say, imaging my delight this past weekend when visiting my moms hometown Walmart. They had new amazing fabric for spring. I was in heaven. And you can bet I walked away with some new treats. Here is what I found.

The green and white floral, the solid green and the blue and white floral will be used in my bedroom as new pillowcases and decorative pillows. For spring and summer I have lots of white, blue and green. Very light and airy. The pink floral will be used for a shirt for Jaz. She picked it out herself(a fabric freak in the making-I hope!)

These two fabrics will be turned into skirts for E and Z. I bought a yard each so I should be able to get four skirts since they love to match. I'll be using the Lazy Day Skirt pattern from here http://www.oliverands.com/blog/2008/08/lazy-days-skirt-free-pattern.html I have used it before and it is so simple and easy it makes you want to make twelve.
Now that I have some new fabric all I want to do is sew. I have been trying to get my to-do list done early this week but it is looking like next week will be the official Sewing Week.

  1. Oh I'm a fabric freak, too! Love it and I have a small collection which I'm afraid will be growing soon...I plan to start sewing again. It's been about a year since I've made anything. I was on an apron kick for awhile and made about 50 billion aprons. I'm kind of getting the hankering to start sewing some fun new baby stuff! Love the fabrics you've chosen!
