Garden Tour - Backyard Edition

This might not be the best time of the year to show off by backyard and garden since not a whole lot is in bloom and things are starting to get "crispy" looking like it tends to get in late August.

But I figures "why not", since I talked about it so much during the early summer months.

You may remember I was attempting to revamp the garden by removing plants I didn't want and adding or moving still others to make it flow a little better.

It's still not to where I'd like it to be but it's much, much closer than it was three months ago and it has given me hope for the future.

Instead of taking photos I put together a quick video for you. . . enjoy!

Bye Now!

Adding Bathroom Storage

Well Good Morning!

Long time no see!

I'd love to announce that I'm back and ready to blog full time again but with two weeks til school starts I have a feeling it will be filled up with last minute activities with the kids!

I am hoping to be able to post a couple times a week until the second week of September when I'll start up again.

Today I thought I'd share a project I was able to finish last week.  Just a quick painting project to add a little extra storage to our bathroom off the family room.

I found this simple cabinet at the thrift store a month ago and thought it would be the perfect addition to the room.

Originally it was stained a dark, walnut color, but now with a fresh coat of white paint it's looking oh so pretty.

I did some heavy distressing along the edges to make the stain color show through.  I can't seem to paint anything theses days without distressing it.  It adds such character to the project I think.

I also removed the hardware since it was missing two of the four original to the piece and replaced them with these silver and porcelain numbers from Menards - love them!

To fancy up the top I added a grouping of favorite items to add some storage and character.

A grouping of thrift store jars hold items like cotton pads, q-tips and hair ties/clips.

Ironstone holds some pretty soaps to display and a pitcher of fake flowers adds a fancy touch.

I used this thrift store find to add a little height into the mix.  Not sure what it was originally but I like how it looks painted and distressed - adds some character I think.

Love how's it all turned out.

But my favorite thing about it is how it's taken the attention away from the shower surround which I have always considered an eye sore when entry the room.

Thanks for stopping by!

Talk to you soon,

Fun Finds: Church Sale Edition

A few weeks back my sister and I stopped in at a church sale that turned out to be the biggest garage sale I have ever attended.

Room after room of great stuff, we both had great luck finding a cart full of stuff we couldn't do without.

The find of the day, however came at the very end of our shopping and made my day.

I have unofficially been looking for a sofa to replace the one I have in the living room that is falling apart and to my surprise I found one at the sale for a whole ten dollars!

Now the print is a little crazy, some (like me) like it, others (the family) hate it but a little slipcover magic will make it fit into the room for sure.

Take a look!

I'm thinking it's a 70's sofa, but I can't be sure.  However it's a good brand and still in excellent condition.  Makes me wonder if it's been wrapped in plastic for twenty years.  One cushion has a small whole, but other than that I don't think it's been used much at all.  Still very comfortable and firm to sit on and it's the perfect size for the living room.

I like the simple lines and I have to say the fabric is growing on me.  It's perfect for spring and summer.

And how adorable are the little accent pillows!

I'm smitten by this sofa for sure!

Can't hardly believe my luck!

Oh and I clipped a few of my hydrangea's the other day and am loving how it looks with the sofa!

Have a great day.

Home Again

So the family and I have made it through another successful camping trip and are starting to get back into the groove of normal life.

Unfortunately, the night we returned home I spiked a fever that kept me under the weather for the next six days.  Thankfully I am starting to feel a little more energetic and so I hope to be back to blogging again full time.

In the meantime, I thought I'd share a photo collage from our latest camping trip and a video I've put together of all the fun stuff we did.

Enjoy!
